Microplastic contamination in commercial sea salt of Vietnam

نویسندگان

چکیده

This is the first study which assessed microplastic pollution of sea salt products from Vietnam. The results obtained 9 iodate fine table and 4 raw samples collected different regions in Vietnam showed that were present 100% salts samples. mean concentration was 787±101 items/kg 340±26 for salts, respectively. For both salt, fibers predominant type microplastic, accounted more 60% total particles. In added, three types polymer detected 12 particles by FTIR, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) polystyrene, which, most common PE (accounted 67%). With a daily consumption 5-10g/day, annual number ingested per Vietnamese adult varies 637 to 1241 alone.

Investigation of microplastic contamination in the gastrointestinal tract of some species of caught fish from Oman Sea

Background and Objective: Marine pollution is growing due to human activities. Continuous increase in plastic production and poor management of plastic waste resulted in a significant increase of this contaminant in aquatic environments. This in turn led to the widespread presence of Microplastics (MPs) with a size of less than 5mm. Materials and Methods: In this study, frequency, distribution...

Microplastic pollution in deep-sea sediments.

Microplastics are small plastic particles (<1 mm) originating from the degradation of larger plastic debris. These microplastics have been accumulating in the marine environment for decades and have been detected throughout the water column and in sublittoral and beach sediments worldwide. However, up to now, it has never been established whether microplastic presence in sediments is limited to...

Heavy Metals Contamination of Table Salt Consumed in Iran

Lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic are the most important heavy metals which may cause health risks following consumption of contaminated foods. Table salt is one the mostly used food additive with unique place in food consumption. Although purified table salt is expected to have lower level of contamination, some Iranians still prefer to use rock salt. Use of rock salt for food purposes has be...

Neustonic microplastic and zooplankton in the North Western Mediterranean Sea.

Neustonic microplastic and zooplankton abundance was determined in the North Western Mediterranean Sea during a summer cruise between July 9th and August 6th 2010, with a break between July 22 th and 25th due to a strong wind event. Ninety percent of the 40 stations contained microplastic particles (size 0.3-5mm) of various compositions: e.g., filaments, polystyrene, thin plastic films. An aver...
